Dellucci up, Adams designated

July 3, 2009

The Toronto Blue Jays announced today that they have called up outfielder David Dellucci from the Las Vegas 51s. The 35-year-old Dellucci started the season with the Cleveland Indians before being released.

To clear a spot for Dellucci on the roster Toronto has designated former first rounder Russ Adams for assignment. The IF/OF went 4 for 20 in 8 games for the Blue Jays.

The return of Russ

2002 first round draft pick Russ Adams will make his return to the Toronto Blue Jays roster after being recalled from Las Vegas. The utilityman was hitting .319 with 1HR and 9RBIs in 74 at bats for the Las Vegas 51s.

To clear room on the roster for Adams Toronto optioned utilityman Joe Inglett back to Triple A. Inglett burst onto the scene last year replacing the injured Aaron Hill at second base, but failed to break camp with the Jays this year and has been less than impressive during his time in Toronto.
