Dellucci up, Adams designated

The Toronto Blue Jays announced today that they have called up outfielder David Dellucci from the Las Vegas 51s. The 35-year-old Dellucci started the season with the Cleveland Indians before being released.

To clear a spot for Dellucci on the roster Toronto has designated former first rounder Russ Adams for assignment. The IF/OF went 4 for 20 in 8 games for the Blue Jays.

Dellucci signs with Blue Jays

Veteran outfielder David Dellucci has signed a deal with the Toronto Blue Jays. Toronto selects Chad Jenkins 20th overall

The Toronto Blue Jays selected RHP Chad Jenkins of Kennesaw State 20th overall with their first round pick in today’s MLB draft. Jenkins checks in at 6′4 225 pounds and features a low 90s fastball, solid slider and an above average change up. Most draft projections have Jenkins ending up a number 3 or 4 starter in the major and expect him to rise through the farm quickly.

Litsch to undergo Tommy John surgery

Right handed starter Jesse Litsch will become the latest young pitching arm to undergo the infamous Tommy John surgery. The 24 year old left a game on April 13 against the Minnesota Twins and was originally expected to rejoin the Jays a few weeks later but after multiple visit to Dr. James Andrews it was determined surgery is needed.

Jesse Litsch is expected to miss 10-12 months.

MLB Draft goes today

The MLB amateur draft takes starts today with rounds 1-3 before concluding on Wednesday and Thursday. College pitching phenom Stephen Strasburg is considered by experts a near lock to go first overall to the Washington Nationals with the only question mark being his representation by agent Scott Boras.

The Toronto Blue Jays posses 5 picks in the first three rounds with the 20th being their first.

Lyle Overbay named AL player of the week

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Lyle Overbay was announced as the AL player of the week Monday. Overbay hit .533 with 2HRs, 8 RBI and 4 doubles in 6 games last week. This is the third time in his career he has received such an honour.
